Karaoke in Brisbane

Ah karaoke, the favoured entertainment of drunks everywhere. For cheap and easy fun, make karaoke the main attraction at your next party or event.

There are dozens of party supply places that hire out karaoke machines in Brisbane. You can find one that you operate yourself or hire an operator to do the work for you. A quick search at Yellow Pages online should yield the information you are after. Be sure to ring a couple of different places and compare quotes to get the best prices.

For quick and easy karaoke machine hire, try these sites:

Karaoke For A Song specialises in karaoke machines and takes online bookings,

Superjuke is a national party hire company. You can sample their karaoke library on their website,

Brisbane Jukebox Hire provides combination jukebox/karaoke machines.

Alternately, you can purchase SingStar and have access to karaoke all the time (bet the neighbours will love that!) SingStar is a program that turns your Playstation into a singing machine. Each program comes with a selection of songs to choose from and players are judged on their tone as they sing along.

If your skilful warbling just can't be contained indoors, hit these Brisbane bars and clubs for public karaoke fun.

Thursday nights are dedicated to amateur rock stars at Chalk Hotel (735 Stanley Street, Woolloongabba). Campfire Karaoke takes place from 8.00pm in the Stumps Bar. Unlike karaoke nights at other venues, at Chalk, you will be accompanied by a live band and backing vocals, with you as the lead singer. If that doesn't spell rock and roll, I don't know what does.

Casablanca (52 Petrie Terrace, Paddington) is a bar and restaurant that offers live entertainment, Latin dancing and late night karaoke. Throw back a few cocktails for Dutch courage and end your night with a robust rendition of I Will Survive.

Come for a game of pool, stay for the karaoke at Fat Louie's (124 Albert Street, Brisbane). The bar and pool hall has eight karaoke rooms offering songs in five different languages. These rooms have a cosy lounge room feeling, with couches and coffee tables, and are also fully licensed. See the website for pricing information.

Strike Bowling in Brisbane City and Surfers Paradise also offer karaoke. If you love to sing but hate crowds, you can hire a private room at Strike on the Gold Coast.
