Whenever we have first time visitors to Brisbane, we take them to Mt Coot-tha to show them the magnificent view of Brisbane. In my opinion, is the place to go. Not only does it provide impressive views of Brisbane's city skyline across the river, it also showcases Brisbane's laidback lifestyle beautifully with families and couples out and about, picnicking or bbq'ing on the gas facilities, jogging, cycling or, for the more adventurous, rockclimbing and abseiling the cliff face.

are found just over the Brisbane River from the CBD. We parked at the far end of River Terrace which is home to a gorgeous stone hut with massive open windows which frame the city beautifully and make for fantastic photo opportunities. Be warned though, it's very popular at dusk with photographers practising their craft.

Further along is the Cafe, which is the perfect spot for sundowners or a coffee and cake before heading to the Lower River Terrace for a relaxed walk along the river. Look out for the interesting sculptures that line the walkways, and the iconic Brisbane ferries going about their business - more great photo opportunities.

Autumn is the perfect time of year in Brisbane to be out and about exploring this lovely little city. A visit at dusk is a real treat and would be a highlight for any visitor to the city.
