Tired of hearing the kids whine that they're bored? If you live in the Claremont area you should think about taking them to the Claremont Community Hub and Library during the July school holidays to keep them entertained.

The Town of Claremont will be hosting several free events for children at the Community Hub and Library from the 4th to the 13th of July. The classes are available for kids aged 6 and up.

In the Knitterbugs class, kids can learn how to knit! This is a great class for school aged children. All materials will be supplied and at the end of the class, the kids will be given a simple pattern to take home to practise their knitting skills on. Places are limited so make sure you book in advance. Knitterbugs will be held on Tuesday the 4th of July from 1pm to 3pm.

On Thursday the 6th of July, kids can have a chance to learn about stop-motion animation techniques. Stop-motion is an incredibly fun and simple form of animation. Kids can bring their own iPad and a favourite toy from home (size and height matter) or they can use Lego or plasticine to create something of their own design to bring alive with animation. Kids will also learn how to make their own stop-motion film.

There will be two stop-motion classes held at the library for two different age groups. The first one will be from 9.30am to 11.00am and will be for 6 to 10-year-olds and the second one will be held from 11.30am to 1pm and be for 11 to 12-year-olds.

There will be classes on Patchwork Quilting held on Thursday the 6th of July from 12.30pm to 2.30pm and on Thursday the 13th of July also from 12.30pm to 2.30pm. Both classes are for children aged 10 years and up.

The kids will have a chance to join an adult patchwork group and learn how to create a simple patchwork piece. Sewing kits will be provided but kids will have to bring along their own buttons, ribbons, lace or material that they would like to use.

A Lego Robotics class is also being held on Thursday the 13th of July but unfortunately that class has sold out!

So if you think your kids might be interested in learning how to knit or patchwork quilt or learn stop-motion animation you better make a booking [LINK=https://www.claremont.wa.gov.au/Community-and-Living/What-s-Happening/School-Holidays-in-Claremont]TODAY.
