Located at the back of Napoleon's Hotel, formally known as Riverwood Inn, is the newly opened
Josephine's. It is the work of husband and wife team John & Diane Roche who ran the highly successful Dijon's Restaurant at Woronora for 12 years.
As you enter off off the car park, you are greeted with a fresh modern interior that is ideal for a casual lunch or dinner with family and friends. There is a full bar with soft drinks, spirits and a varied selection of wines by the glass or bottle.
The menu features lots of modern Australian dishes, that the owners refer to as 'fine pub food,' with a few old favourites and offers excellent value. The servings are generous and prices very affordable. There is also a children's menu for under 12's that can be coloured in with pencils garnered from the sideboard to keep them quiet while they wait.
Our group had quite a mix of meals including the chicken parmigana which was deemed to be very good; the chicken breast with mushroom cream sauce – excellent; the mixed seafood plate – excellent, a chicken caesar salad – which was described as "the best ever" by my dining companion, and the children's cheese burgers which were very good, huge and come with a bowl of ice cream for dessert.
Josephine's seats up to 200 people and can be divided to accommodate up to 60 guests in a area set aside for private functions. Bookings are recommended as it is getting very popular now that word of its opening is getting out.
