The
Returned and Services League of Australia is a national organisation that provides support for present and former members of the Australian Defence Force. The RSL performs many services such as pension advocacy, welfare and emergency accommodation, but they are most well known for their clubs, which offer bar, dining and often gambling facilities.
Nearly every large suburb in Brisbane has its own RSL club (you can find the one closest to you
here). RSL clubs provide inexpensive meals (including the traditional roast meal, a mainstay at nearly every RSL club), drinks and free entertainment, like trivia nights, live music, bingo and movie nights. Membership is equally cheap.
You can enjoy a night at your local RSL club without breaking the bank – plus, you're helping the men and women who risk their lives for our country.
RSL Etiquette:
Always remove your hate before entering an RSL. This goes for women as well as men.
Some RSL clubs perform a minutes silence at sunset. If this occurs when you are there you should stand, or at the very least, remain silent.
