The 2017 Melbourne International Comedy Festival extends far beyond the city, and sometimes, you come across a hidden gem like Joe White - Ethiopian & Still Not Hungry . Performing at Afro Hub - 727 Nicholson St, Carlton North for just a few more days, be sure to catch it! You'll get more than your money's worth in laughs.

Performing till the 23rd of April, grab your tickets HERE or at the door. Performances have been selling out, so get in early and fast, before they leave town.

The Afro Hub is a venue dedicated to African Australian talent, and is a no-frills venue, easily missed if you're going there for the first time. The signage is inset on the wall and not easily seen (even though it does have a huge piece of artwork on the wall) as you whizz past; when there's traffic on your tail and you're trying to multi-task; looking for visible signage, street number, the venue, parking and traffic. If you have the misfortune to travel up Punt Rd like me, give yourself oodles of time, as traffic is rife!

Once inside, you can relax with a drink from the bar and mingle with other guests. Being a small venue, you'd more than likely see Joe and his MC and support act Jason Wood floating around or making last minute tweaks to the system.

Winner of a Perth Fringe World comedy gong (2016), WA Next Gen Comedy 2016, Mandurah Crabfest 2016 and runner up in the 2016 WA Funny Faces Comedy Competition, Joe is taking this show on the road to Canada and the US next year.

Coming from an ethnic background with a 'very cultural mother' (who he loves) and a 'legitimate refugee', Joe has a lot of material to draw from, and he doesn't disappoint. Take a good interactive crowd in, ready to party and have some fun, and you have an epic show. Tonight was such a night; an hour long show went over by half an hour, as Joe and the audience fuelled each other.

The MC and Support Act Jason Wood is no slouch either. He's flawless in his delivery and does a few good accents. A great story-teller, and growing up in a multi-cultural environment, Jason also has a few tales to tell. Together, this is the Western Australian dynamic duo you shouldn't miss!
