If you're a parent of a toddler or pre-schooler, you will know the name Jimmy Giggle well. He brightens up the daytime screens on the ABC4Kids program Giggle and Hoot keeping the little ones happily entertained from morning until bedtime.

It's not just the little ones he's keeping entertained though, this program has more than a few mummy fans...and it's not for the cute blue and purple owls we watch. We pardon those yellow PJ's and high-pitched voice, repetitive children's program scenarios and appreciate the fresh-faced, cheerful young man who helps us through the endless food preparation and tidying with 'Hoot Hoot! It's a lovely day' and let's us know it's relax time soon with 'Five steps to bed'. In our house this inspires sing-a-long on many a weekday.

This is really what you want at Christmas, right? cheer and joy, a proper old-fashioned sing-a-long and a break from Christmas shopping? And something to keep the kids happy until the man in the red suit appears...

So here's the great news, live Christmas shows are coming to light up the festive season in Sydney and Melbourne...the kids are going to love it! The magic of Christmas will come alive with Jimmy - joined by Hoot and Hootabelle, the super talented songstress Ali McGregor and a very special guest appearance from Santa and his elves - performing some of your favourite Christmas songs live on stage this December.

I was lucky enough to have the chance to ask Jimmy Rees, who plays Jimmy Giggle, some questions about the upcoming Christmas show.

What can the kids and parents expect from the Christmas show?
If you love Christmas and singing Christmas Carols then your in for a treat! It's going to be great fun, we have some cheeky elves as well as a visit from Santa!! Of course Hoot and Hootabelle will be there and my friend Ali McGregor!! We started rehearsing this week and man it's going to be hilarious too!!

How do your audience react when they get to see you in a live show/meet you in person?
Oh it's crazy! It amazing to see all the fans singing along to our songs, dancing and shouting out "Hoot Hoot"!! I love live performances for this reason!! It's Hootastic!!! :)

A child I know would like to know: Does Jimmy Giggle know Santa?
Yep, Santa and I are great friends, although I don't see him much throughout the year

Will your son be coming along to see you in the show?
Of course, Lenny loves the live shows! He came along recently to a Giggle and Hoot show and he was flapping his wings through the Funky Owl!!

Jimmy's favourite track?
"Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer! Half way through the song Hoot decided to sing about his favourite reindeer, Hootolph the Blue Nosed Reindeer!"

While I had the opportunity, I had to ask some enduring questions about Giggle and Hoot that you may start to ponder as a parent who watches the show perhaps a little too often!

Is it time to acknowledge the magic button doesn't work?
Never!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When does Hoot sleep?
Throughout the day while we are recording, he naps A LOT!!!

Is it weird that Hoots friends crash at your place all the time?
Hahaha!! As long as they chip in for the rent, I'm cool!!

Are Hoot and Hootabelle an item or just close friends?
They are 'friends' but we all know what they means

What has been your best and worst experience while being Jimmy Giggle?

The best experience is visiting kids who are facing illness in hospital. Getting around to put a smile on their faces is an amazing experience and a privilege!

I don't think I have had any bad experiences as Jimmy Giggle!! It's all fantastic, I love my job and wouldn't change anything!!
