The
Japanese Summer Festival is a major annual Melbourne event which is held at Docklands.
It is free, family friendly and will be held on Saturday February 11, 2012 from 4pm until 8pm at
Waterfront City Piazza Docklands .

Organised by the Japanese Society of Melbourne and Japanese Chamber of Commerce & Industry Melbourne, this festival, also known as Wasshoi Hyakuman Matsuri in Japan, is an annual celebration held throughout the regions of Japan in Summer - which in Japan is the first week of August.
This festival is a celebration of traditional and modern Japanese arts and culture. This year the festival program includes Taiko Drumming (Wadaiko Rindo) performances, a Bon Odori (Summer Dance) performance and Sumo Wrestling; you can view the entertainment schedule in full, by visiting the

In addition to the exciting cultural entertainment program, there will also be a range of markets stalls on site selling unique Japanese arts and crafts. Participating vendors include
Kanga Kanga Japanese magazines and books,
Ebisu Design, specialists in Japanese calligraphy and designer homewares,
Tombo Asian Antiques and Japanese Textiles and
Kimono House Japanese textiles and craft.

Japanese food and drink will also available on site; Akari Japanese Restaurant will be serving up okonomiyaki (Japanese pancakes),
Torimatsu will provide
yakitori (grilled chicken),
Tokyo Deli will have delicious sushi on hand,
