Are you looking for a deep, vibrant, colourful and spiritual experience this weekend? Do you want to taste the spirituality and philosophy and culture of Ancient India? Yes! Then there is a perfect festival coming for you and your family on Saturday 5th September at the Hare Krishna Temple, Kalamunda that will leave your soul, body and mind thoroughly satisfied.
Janmashtami is one of the biggest festivities that is celebrated throughout the globe. It marks the earthly advent of 'Krishna'. Krishna, 'the all attractive one', is described in India's sacred texts as God Himself.
To the devotees of Krishna at the International Society of Krishna Consciousness, also known as the Hare Krishnas, Janmashtami is a day of deep spiritual renewal and celebration of good triumphing over evil. It is an occasion of togetherness, bringing people together from all cultures and backgrounds, thus signifying unity and peace.
At the festival, the visitors will be treated with an elaborate feast of singing, dancing and dramas based on the enchanting stories from Ancient India. With countless colourful decorations, vibrant costumes, meditation and a multi-course vegetarian cuisine, it will be a perfect day out with family and friends. All day performances and programs will lead up to the midnight service (arati), accompanied with singing and dancing, at the hour which Krishna appeared.
