On a seldom used street in the South West Corner of the city, an anonymous frontage identified only by the characters "9/11" hides one of Adelaide's most unusual businesses. More often known as Gang Hair and Gang Home, this thriving enterprise needs no signs or advertising.

It is a unique combination of hair salon and collectibles gallery. While the objects are all available for sale, they are also props to support another facet of James Knight's business - interior fitouts for homes and businesses. With the help of stylist Jodi Coulthard the display is an eclectic mix ranging from the unusual to the bizarre.

A skeleton stands below a zebra's head, while a client reclines adjacent to a bank of ex-GPO private mail boxes. A collection of old furniture gives a workshop feel to one corner, while a variety of art decorates the walls in an old warehouse look.

His trade comes mostly by word of mouth and from its Facebook pages here and here . The website was not fully working when I checked, but that is perhaps a symptom of the casual nature of the concern.

James and Jodi welcome people to visit for a cut and style, or just to browse and pass the time of day. I've hear that some good coffee is on offer too. Call in and see for yourself!
