We thought we'd take the kids to sunny Queensland these school holidays; we lucked out with the sun, but what we did discover was the fabulous Restaurant.

Situated on the ground floor of the Broadbeach Mantra Sierra Grand Hotel, our restaurant experience was certainly entertaining and fully satisfying.

After a long day at Dreamworld, we were famished and wanting something to satisfy our sudden craving for teppanyaki.

We were staying at the Mantra Sierra Grand; convenient as we were definitely in need of a drink after such an exhausting day and not in the mood to head out further than we had to in the rain and with four exhausted, frustrated and hungry kids.

First things first, a drink; a lychee martini. No arguments for our dinner choice; the banquet; number 99 on the menu—Kamikaze Deluxe. Not the cheapest thing on the menu, but, we were on holidays and feeling a little decadent. This banquet also offers you a little bit of everything.

Japanese fresh salad and miso soup for entree, spectacularly prepared chicken, beautiful fillet mignon steak, vegetables, scallops, prawns, salmon and my favourite—Morton Bay bugs, all served with fresh steamed rice.

The food, sensational, however what made this dining out experience more enjoyable was the staff; our waitress was not only warm, welcoming and accommodating, but our teppanyaki chef, a character had us in stitches from our initial sitting. I'm guessing winter time, off peak, we did not book a table, but come summer time and you're staying at the Mantra Sierra Grand or anywhere in Broadbeach and feel the need for teppanyaki—book Jakamama.
