There's something fun and festive and keenly satisfying about Italian cuisine, so it's little wonder many Italian staples, like pizza and pasta, have found their way onto our dining tables. Come celebrate this love of Italian fiesta at the second annual Italian Wine & Food Festival. Returning to both Melbourne and Sydney, and you will find all the fun at the Royal Exhibition Building in Melbourne on Sunday 25th June 2017.
This authentic food based festival offers a wide range of dining experiences, from street-food styled pizza through to connoisseur fresh pasta and wine in one of the pop-up restaurants. The invitation is extended to every member of the family so there is sure to be something to suit every taste. Kids can enjoy a big bowl of wiggly spaghetti while Mum and Dad take a masterclass in wine appreciation from the experts, including the winemakers themselves. Tour the Italian vineyards by sampling some of the 200 wines on offer to taste. You'll meet the producers and importers directly, who will be on hand to offer their best advice.
Some of Melbourne's leading Italian chefs will take to the main stage, sharing their love of authentic Italian cooking. Meet Rosa Mitchell (Rosa's Canteen), Johnny di Francesco from 400 Grandi and Rita Macali from Lladro. While chefs from restaurants such as Caterina's Cucina e Bar, Trattoria Emilia, Bar Idda, Pasta Classica, La Bonta, Small Axe and Pasta Adagio will be demonstrating their brilliance in the pop-up restaurants, serving anyone and everyone who would like to partake of this mouthwatering feast.
The market section of the festival will showcase the very best salumi, cheese, pasta, gelato and more. Vendors set to appear include That's Amore Cheese, Saluministi, Pane e Pizzico, Prosciutto di Parma Consorzio, AVPN Pizza Assocation, Pasta Classica, Luca Ciano Sauces, Ardor Gnocchi, Truffle Traders, 7 Apples Gelato, Maccora Vinocotto, Vinotopia, Molecola Italian Soda, Books for Cooks and plenty more. Enjoy a sample or purchase a snack as you make your away around. Nobody is leaving this festival hungry.
As the live entertainment performs for your listening and viewing pleasure, sit back and relax in the Barolo Bar or Franciacorta Bar and enjoy a Moretti Beer on tap or a Negroni and Spritz cocktail. Or if you'd rather, a coffee brewed by the Espresso di Manfredi baristas, made to order.
Entry to the Italian Wine & Food Festival ranges from $40 to $135 and includes wine tasting (no tokens), tasting glass, food sampling, coffee, mineral water, cooking demonstrations and entertainment. Child entry is free. Purchase tickets online and save up to $30 on entry charged at the door. Entry is allocated on session-entry times, ranging from a several hour stay to all day.
