Ever felt like grabbing that big bully and flipping them on their back? Martial arts are great for confidence, self-defense, disciplin and fitness. The International Wingchun Academy makes learning Wingchun, a form of kungfu, fun and accessible.
Wingchun is a form of Kungfu with a history of just 300 years, it's considered quite modern but still one of the three great martial art styles of Southern China.
It was founded during the Qing Dynasty by a Buddhist nun, Ng Mui, of the famed Shaolin Temple. According to legend, Ng found her inspiration after witnessing a fight between a stork and large rodent where the stork was able to repel the rodent's attacks by using its wings and legs to attack and defend simultaneously. .
Wing Chun differs from other Kung Fu styles as not based on imitation and repetition, but on natural laws of flow, eliminating unnecessary movements to overcome and generate force in the most efficient way.
There are classes for beginners through to masters, and special classes for
kids and for
women's self-defence.
