The Brisbane International Film Festival finishes this weekend on the 9th of August.

The festival started way back in 1992 and every year shows films which surprise and amuse - a great antidote to the mainstream fair of the megaplex.

Films are being shown at the Regent Cinema (167 Queen Street in the CBD) and the Gallery of Modern Art Cinematheque. You can check the festival programme from the website which includes details of location, price, and time.

Or you can download the entire 9MB pdf version.

Films which look interesting to me include An Education and Moon (love good sci fi).

I remember when I was studying Spanish two years ago, my teacher told us all that we were encouraged to attend this multicultural film festival. Not only for us to learn the language faster, because I am sure that cannot happen after watching a movie overnight. But she wanted us to go in order for us to experience what it is liek in different cultures and this way would be the perfect way to indulge and be grateful for all the things we are presented with and to use them to the best of our abilities.
