Indonesian food is super delicious. For those who have tried, I am pretty sure they will agree with me. For those who have never tasted it, don't worry, here are some nice places that serve Indonesian food. And they are around the city, so it's easy to get there.

Indonesian food is mostly served with rice. The dishes served with it will be very fulfilling and are usually spiced with herbs, and for those who aren't faint-hearted, Indonesian %%sambal[/i] (spicy sauce made from chilli) is a must.

1. Shalom Indonesian Restaurant
474 Little Londsdale St Melbourne, VIC 3000

Shalom is famous for its sambal and chicken combination. Visitors can choose sambal from lowest to highest level of hotness. I also really like the oxtail soup. If you dare try the hottest sambal, good for you!

2. Kedai Satay
186 King Street Melbourne, VIC 3000

The restaurant serves tasty, meaty food. Don't forget to try its satay and beef ribs. It has a big portion full of meat that will leave you very satisfied in the end.

3. Salero Kito Padang
Tivoli Arcade Shop 18
239 Bourke St Melbourne, VIC 3000

Padang is a region in Indonesia famous for its spicy food. This restaurant serves rather Padang fast food and no wonder a lot of working people in the CBD often go here for a quick, spicy lunch. You can choose from a number of dish combinations and mix-match them. The beef rendang and satay Padang are really good.

4. Es Teler 77
2/164 Cardigan St Carlton, VIC

I occasionally go to Es Teler for lunch during uni break. They offer a generous portion at quite reasonable price. For this restaurant I usually opt for the soupy food such as soto. The picture above is baso, Indonesian meatball.

5. Nelayan Indonesian**
265 Swanston St Melbourne, VIC 3000

Nelayan is very easy to find. It's just along Swanston street near Melbourne Central. It serves fast food and ordinary meals as well. As with Salero Kito, a number of dish combinations is available.

6. Ayam Penyet Ria
248 Clarendon St South Melbourne, VIC 3205

Ayam Penyet Ria is very famous in Indonesia and has recently opened in Melbourne. It is known for its ayam penyet (smashed chicken), hence when you visit the restaurant, try this dish before anything else.

I hope you have a hearty, all-Indonesian meal soon.
