British documentary maker Phil Grabsky documents the history of Polish composer Fryderkyk Chopin in this film. Many talented concert pianists are interviewed as well as the author of Chopin - The Reluctant Romantic. The pianists play Chopin's achievement's, stopping to explain and analyse his creativity and influences during periods of the up's and down's throughout his life.

This film is the latest in a series of documentaries titled 'In Search of...' by Grabsky. In Search of Chopin is similar to Mozart, Beethoven and Haydn documentaries, to which the style is polite and slow paced. There is nothing daring or shocking about the film, but you will gain an insight into the music and how it connects with history at the time in Chopin's homeland Poland, and Paris, the city he moves to for career's sake.

The film fails to engage viewers with Chopin on an emotional level, despite his battle with depression, loneliness and Tuberculosis throughout his young life. It seems there is not enough information about Chopin to delve deep into his life, nonetheless, the information provided is informative.
