We've all seen magic shows where the magicians and their assistants flourish and flaunt across the stage, while you look on from afar. They're certainly impressive feats, but it's difficult to connect with what's happening when you're separated by an entire stage.
Luke Hocking breaks down the barrier between audience and performer with his latest show Impossible Occurrences.
This unique magic show brings you up close and personal with Hocking as he performs feats of magic, illusion and mind reading right before your eyes. Instead of a stage, Impossible Occurrences is held in private quarters within the 5 Star Marriott Hotel in Melbourne, so you won't miss a single detail.
Hocking has been a professional magician for over 15 years. He received his first magic kit at the age of five, and his first gig at age 15, continually honing and refining his skills with every performance.
Over the years, he has co-produced and performed as a part of several hit shows: notably the Adelaide Fringe Festival, and the Melbourne Comedy Festival. He created Impossible Occurrences with the goal of delivering a performance that is both distinctive and personal.
"You see these big stage illusion shows, which are cool, but are very distant and impersonal," says Hocking.
"My show is intimate and close, where the audience literally sees the magic only inches from their face, and can really feel part of it."
