If You Give A Pig A Pancake by Laura Joffe Numeroff is a sweet picture book about a little girl who gives a treat to a piglet and finds herself doing favour after favour for the little creature. The pig wants syrup to go on her pancake, then a bath to get the syrup off, then a rubber duck to go in the bath and so on and so on. Eventually she wants another pancake and the whole cycle starts again.

This is another great book for reading aloud and contains patterns of repeating words which allow children to predict the appearance of certain words (such as "pig" and "pancake"). This means that as you read to them they can start to join in.

The illustrations by Felicia Bond are gorgeous. My daughter loved the cute piglet climbing through the window.

I recommend it for children aged two and up.

Rated 8/10
