Another beautiful sunny day in McLaren Vale another choice to make, what to do today? Well Hugo Wines has the esteemed artist David Dridan OAM exhibiting for SALA, Fleurieu and Beyond. So I "phone a friend" and agree to meet up at the Hugo Wines for the opening event.



The room quickly fills up so we are all squeezing around to get a good look at David's works. The detail of the paintings are so clear I can see every blade of grass in one. Then there is this image of a more desert type world that I would see in Far North of South Australia.



Another leads me down the road between the lush vineyards toward the distant hills.



David must be considered a Living Legend in the South Australian art world. He was a key driver in starting the Fleurieu Art Prize and has produced hundreds of works himself. He was awarded the Order Of Australia in 2007 for his contribution to the arts. When most people would probably decide to put their feet up and relax a bit, now in his 80's, David has decided to turn his artistic side to working with Silver. His works are exquisite.



I felt very privileged to see David's work and hear him talk. If you get the chance come on down and see for yourself. And of course there are lovely wines for you to taste.
