One of my favorite things to dance. I'll always look for an excuse to do it, even if it involves bopping around in the car, so I was
pretty happy to hear that Dance Day is on January 9. NYC is one of the best places to be if you want to dance, so if you love it as much as I do, there are plenty of ways to celebrate the day whether you're dancing yourself or watching others do it.

**Join a flash mob
**
There are many who want to join a flash mob but have no idea how to go about it. Thank goodness for Meetup, because if you've always wanted to be a part of a flash mob, now you can be. Join the Flash Mob America (New York) group . You can partake in an upcoming meet-up or suggest one of your own.

**Take a class
**
There's no shortage of places to dance in NYC if you want to take lessons. You can go to SHOCKra and take classes such as pole dance, ballet, bollywood, bellydance, and burlesque. At Broadway Dance Center you can take a variety of classes including ballet, hip hop, tap and theater. At Steps on Broadway you can take flamenco, jazz, tap, ballet and others. If there's a style you've always wanted to learn, chances are you can find it in NYC.

**Give a certificate
**
One of the best ways to celebrate Dance Day on January 9 is to give someone the ability to take a dance class. If there's someone who's been good to you, loves to dance and can use an enjoyable release from stress, give them a gift certificate to take a dance class. If possible, purchase a certificate for one or two classes; it will give them a taste of what the class and style are like and they can purchase additional classes if they desire.

**See a performance
**
If you're in NYC and want to see some fantastic dancing, the best place to go is, of course, Broadway . From Chicago to Mary Poppins, there's no shortage of options. Tickets can cost quite a bit of money, so before you purchase tickets at full price check out Theatermania for discount tickets. For in-person discounts, head over to one of the TKTS Booths . There are currently three locations – the South Street Seaport Booth, Downtown Brooklyn Booth, and the most convenient, the Times Square Booth.

Even if you don't have money to spare, blast music and dance your heart out while you're cleaning your home. Dancing is fantastic exercise, gives your mood a boost and brings people together, so on January 9, honor all of its benefits and celebrate any way your heart and feet desire.
