Even if you've lived in Sydney all your life, there is a slim chance that you've seen it from this angle. Have you ever explored the clouds in a hot air balloon over Sydney? You'll see the city from a unique perspective. Whether you're trying to find something special to do for that important anniversary, or just looking for something fun to do – hot air ballooning is not something you should look past.

There are a variety of hot air balloon packages available for those interested in floating above Sydney. The most popular destination seems to be the Hawkesbury region. Not to worry, there are also Sydney City hot air balloon experiences on offer. For $299, you can drift over the Hawkesbury Valley and see the Blue Mountains from above.

At $320, you can balloon over lush bushland from Parramatta. A gourmet breakfast at Lachlan's Restaurant within the Old Government House is included in the price.

Also priced at $320, the Sydney city hot air ballooning service takes you through beautiful views of the coast lines and the city. You'll likely also be passing the Blue Mountains. After the flight, you will celebrate with a barbeque breakfast and a glass of champagne.

For those of you looking for an exclusive flight for two, there are sometimes VIP packages starting from around $1500 and if you're lucky you might find a better deal. For those who enjoy luxury, the extra privacy aspect might be worthy of the extra premium.

On the flip-side, this entire experience might look a bit pricey to you. However, remember to keep in mind that some coupon websites and such also frequently feature deals even for hot air ballooning. $299 might not be the cheapest out there, depending on the availability of such deals.

If you're concerned about the overall experience, there are some things to keep in mind when it comes to hot air ballooning. Firstly, you have to be able to stand up for the duration of the flight, which is usually an hour depending on the package. If you're pregnant, many companies won't actually allow you to enjoy this experience for the safety of yourself and your child.

Ideally, you should wear solid shoes and avoid white clothing. Bring sun protection – remember to Slip, Slop, Slap. Once you've finished your flight, most companies will actually award you with a certificate of completion. Remember, you won't be flying the balloon yourself. There will be a professional operator conducting your flight. One more thing, don't forget your camera, or you won't be able to snap up the glory of those views.
