Who hasn't heard of a typical movie night at your mate's place? The idea of sitting around the lounge room eating various kinds of potato chips and watching your favourite flick is so old school. Why not break the steadfast strands of monotony and do it all outside of the house?

Simply follow the usual routine of contacting your buddies and deciding on what DVD(s) to hire.

A picnic rug will be needed for the television set and DVD player, in order to protect them from the grass. Alternatively, if you have a concrete veranda you can put all the electrical equipment on that.

Use an extension lead to connect all your equipment to the nearest power source via a four or six socket power board. The power point could be located in the lounge room or in the garage study. Make your selection out of convenience.

Bring out the chips and have everyone seated on outdoor furniture and/or the garden swing, depending on numbers and if one is available.

Most importantly, ensure that there's not a cloud in the sky, unless you'd like a bonus pyrotechnics show when rain falls upon your electrical equipment.

A good night out with all the trimmings of a lazy night in - trackies, comfy couches, food, friends and a good flick. Brilliant! I'll try this one out for sure.

Very good. Atmosphere is everything. You could make it a deckchair cinema. Its important to be aware of safety too if there is moisture or difficult points around.

Yet brilliant! children could invite their friends and have popcorn etc
