Homestyle Apple Crumble

Homestyle Apple Crumble
Delicious served with a dollop of cream.

This healthy homestyle apple crumble will be a hit with your family and friends. Easy to make, it will only take 15 minutes to prepare and cost you $2 per person. Even the kids can help you make this one. Instead of using flour we have replaced the crumble ingredients with Lowan Whole Foods rolled oats. The oats will give it that extra crunch and homestyle taste. You will be suprised how good this healthy recipe really tastes.

Ingredients

4 x apples – peeled and thinly sliced
2 tablespoons of raw sugar
1 tablespoon of water
¾ cup of Lowan Whole Foods Wholegrain rolled oats
1 tablespoon of butter
¼ cup of crumbed walnuts
Cream (optional)
Red Delicious or Granny Smith Apples
Red Delicious or Granny Smith Apples - use the apple of your choice.

Method

1. Preheat oven to 180c degrees.

2. Grease a pie or slice tray.

3. Place thinly sliced apples, water and sugar in a saucepan on low heat.

4. Stir apples and keep on a low heat until the apples are reduced and softened. Do not allow the apples to become a mushy or puree consistency.

5. Place the rolled oats into a bowl and rub the butter into the oats.

6. Add the crumbed walnuts into the oat mixture.

7. Place the cooked apples into the pie dish and sprinkle the oat mixture evenly over the top of the apples.

8. Place in the oven for approx 15-20 minutes or until the oats are slightly golden brown.

9. Enjoy with a dollop of fresh whipped cream (optional).

Hi Kdesa, Thanks for your encouraging comments. If you select or highlight the ingredients and method instructions, then select copy and paste it into a word document you can get away with not printing all the ads. Thanks Sheree
