I just love this ad hoc adventuring, always on the lookout for the next exciting place to visit, and yes, I've found it! Located in the stunning hinterland of the Sunshine Coast, in Woombye, just past the Big Pineapple, you'll find the Hinterland Harvest Market. This vibrant market is held EVERY week and showcases a diversity of produce supplied by local as well as the wider farming communities.

Hinterland Harvest Market's aim is to provide fresh, healthy produce to local residents whilst nurturing the relationship between farmers, buyers and local food systems. This is turn will ensure regional prosperity, benefitting the local community both socially and economically.

We decided to visit on Easter Saturday, and even though it was a long weekend, the was buzzing with energy and friendliness. I was particularly impressed that one of the stallholders immediately noticed that I was a 'newbie' to the Market, indicating to me that they are building up relationships with return customers every week. We found a large supply of quality, fresh fruit and vegetables available from local growers, as well as speciality stalls offering all sorts of delicacies.

The stalls, too numerous to mention them all, included:-

Good Harvest Organic Farm - food grown with integrity

Good Harvest Organic Farm's motto is: 'Don't buy from strangers - buy LOCAL'. Mick Dan runs his farm in the Woombye area and loves growing organic, healthy food. They even have a delivery facility whereby a range of weekly seasonal organic farm boxes designed to suit anybody from students, to couples to families of all sizes, can be home-delivered to you.

Pip's Real Food

Pip Thrum is the owner/innovator behind some seriously yummy muesli obtainable at her stall, Pip's Real Food - I loved my taste test of muesli sprinkled on yoghurt, thank you Pip.

Sunshine Coast Farm Foods

Sunshine Coast Farm Foods support local producers, offering delectable products such as Artisan cheeses, cured meats, homemade butter, freshly baked breads, handmade organic crackers and condiments including flavoured balsamic vinegars and quince paste. You'll also find boutique wines and fresh, locally grown seasonal produce including dragonfruit, passionfruit, finger limes, pineapples, mangoes, garlic, ginger and turmeric.

Sunshine Coast Farm Foods endeavour to provide spray-free produce, where possible.

Darryl's Home Made Peanut Butter

What I especially loved at the was the fact that the stalls all had taste testers - you have to try Darryl's Home Made Peanut Butter - totally delectable!

Farmer Andrew's Market Stall

Farmer Andrew is ONLY seven years old and under the guidance of his father is being taught very important work and social ethics. Pop in and say 'hi' to farmer Andrew and buy some of his produce, or at the very least, have a chat.

Delizioso

Delizioso is a boutique delicatessen offering everything from olives to gnocchi to pasta to sauces and dips - well worth a stop.

With all produce fresh, organic and glowing with health, the Hinterland Harvest Markets are well worth a visit. There's even a pop-up ATM for those of us who always forget to carry cash and a children's playground so the littlies can have a play while Mom and Dad are doing the weekly shop. These markets are on the premises of the Suncoast Christian College so there's plenty of parking available too.
