The
High Road Brasserie, also known as the Chiswick Brasserie seems to have worked out what I like in a restaurant and then designed one especially for me. The décor is simple – check the 'French-grey-blue paintwork', heavy wooden tables, without cloths but with thick linen napkins - yet quirky – check the tiles inside!
The wine and water glasses are comfortingly large and you can sit inside, or out - Paris style, but with more space and less fussin'. The brasserie is part of the Soho House Group, so those things are really to be expected – but it's comforting when your expectations are met. There's a bar downstairs and other features you wouldn't expect from a restaurant but would expect from a hotel and private members club.
Of course the food is also worth mentioning. Think Salmon, chard & cumin roasted potatoes £13.50/ Sheperds pie £12/ Roast chicken (for one or two) £13 / £24.
On weekdays, if you're lucky enough to live or work nearby, they start serving breakfast from 7. On the weekends it's 9. Breakfast merges into Brunch, with morphs into lunch...which is when the
all day menu starts, which will take you through to dinner or supper...
