The name Hazelgrove is the historic house name given to Mandy's beautiful old farm in Thornton, country Victoria. Hazelgrove's events are held from Mandy's two homes, the farm and her home in Templestowe, offering a ' city and country experience' for upmarket personal development events and good old fashioned get togethers.

The city house is a large English style manor decorated with stylish antiques. The Farmhouse is a white majestic Victorian with a wide verandah with lacework.

Mandy's favourite saying (and slogan) is "There's no place like home". From the time she was a young girl, she has loved nothing more than the pleasures that home brought. The sound of rain on the tin roof, the smell of Mum's cooking bubbling away in the kitchen and the comfort of gazing into an open fire on a wintery night.

Mandy has attended lots of workshops and courses, but was always disappointed with the environment in which they were held. Her events are a stark contrast to old church halls and dusty community centres with plastic tables and chairs.

As a Home Stylist and Visual Merchandiser, Mandy has always loved entertaining at home. By hosting events at home she has bought beauty, joy and comfort to learning and sharing life's experiences. The events are held both during the day and evenings and this just depends on the location and type of event.

Hazelgrove events are a collaboration of the things she loves. How fortunate is she is able to combine her decorating skills, with learning, teaching and hosting, all in the comfort of her own welcoming homes.

Each event is themed and styled and Mandy covers a wide variety of trending topics that take her fancy. For example: cooking classes, formal dinners, inspirational speakers, art and craft workshops, home related subjects and wellbeing topics.

Mandy invites experts from their fields to present events in her gorgeous homes. They are an upmarket, boutique events, fashioned for an intimate audience.

Mandy is all style and class. She really is the hostess with the mostess. You will be greeted with a glass of champagne or sparkling water. There's a lovely plate of cheese and biscuits and tea and coffee with chocolates. Best of all she apparently stocks calorie free food. You're not going to get this sort of treatment everywhere so might as well live it up.

The long table is set up like a magical special occasion. I was thinking she puts my Christmas table to shame. You will be escorted to your place where your name tag and small gift bag awaits. Every detail has been thought of down to the cloth napkins, pencil and signature notepad. The background music is relaxing. I can feel the teenage tension leaving me… for just a few hours.

The Feng Shui Girl

I had the pleasure of attending the event conducted by Kelly Ingram. Feng Shui is believed to help enhance inner peace and harmony and improve health and relationships so this was definitely a course I could benefit from! It seems fitting that Kelly's energy, knowledge and passion for Feng Shui was positive and contagious.

There would have been a time when I would have thought that this Feng Shui stuff was just a load of hogwash. I have either become more open-minded as I've aged or I just need all the help I can get.

At one stage my girlfriend said 'Well that's it. I can't go home, I'm going to have to move!'

Kelly was able to enlighten me on how to make my home 'Feng Shui friendly'. Here are some of her tips for a more harmonious household that I can easily do:

  • Clean the front door every 2-2 weeks to make it inviting (this helps determine how prosperous you will be)

  • Clean out the wardrobe and get rid of clothes you never wear to make way for new ones (now she's talking)

  • Put more plants at the front door and fresh flowers throughout the house (for abundance)

  • Clean the stovetop and use all burners to encourage all family members to earn money and protect income

  • Throw out all broken crockery

  • Fix the front door bell

  • Get rid of bad smells and anything that brings bad memories (There's another good reason for the dogs to stay outside)

  • Take the photos of the fire ledge because the people in the photos will get burnt out (I know that feeling and I'm no where near it!)

  • Keep the front fence despite the upkeep required. It helps the good Qi to stay in the yard. I need to make the garden more beautiful… lucky spring is coming.

  • I don't know what I'm going to do about all the mirrors I've got in the house or the phone by the bed but my job list needs working on first.

  • Here are a few quotable quotes from the night:

%%There are no mistakes in life
    Everything happens for a reason
Open those doors and let in the good Qi
What is the Universe telling you?%%

I hope it's telling me that good things are about to happen after I rejuvenate my house! Now if Kelly could give a few tips about how to make the teenagers more harmonious she'd bring joy to the whole world and make a fortune!

At the end of the night I'd thought the next event should be a clothes swap event!

On Friday night 28th August, Mandy is holding a terrarium making workshop. Look out for her special future events. I heard on the grapevine that an intimate cooking experience might be on the cards.

Please check out her Facebook page and Instagram ; these will give you a great insight into the look and feel of Hazelgrove's events.

    Postscript:
The farm is available for photo shoots and weddings. It offers beautiful photo opportunities with the old barns and sheds, a windmill and old water tank, the farmhouse with wrap around verandahs, picturesque scenery and Rubicon River frontage.
