Well, winter is well and truly here and that means cold, winds and rain. Are you feeling a bit down? Then why not beat those winter blues with a fun Pamper Party at home with friends?

We could all do with some relaxation and pampering at a beauty spa but many of us do not have the time or the money for the experience. Why not try a DIY Beauty Spa in your own home.

Make sure you have at least a couple of hours free or if you can arrange it, get your friends involved and make it a whole day of relaxation, with no interruptions, so you can truly chill-out.

Firstly set the scene. Light some fragrant candles or oils, put on some relaxing music and get the lighting and heating just right. Make your place look like a real five star spa.

Have your robe and slippers or socks read to slip on and use those fancy towels that you save for guests. If you have a bit of spare cash, then buy all of your friends some cheap robes and matching slippers- not only is it impressive, but it will set the scene of a fancy spa.

Prepare some light snacks, maybe a fresh fruit platter and chilled water. Be decadent and have a chocolate fondue. If you prefer make it a luncheon or even a dinner type thing. Your friends can all contribute so it need not cost a fortune.

Try a face mask – great for the skin. A hand and foot treatment – massage moisturiser into hands and feet for softer skin.
There are some simple face masks you could purchase from most major stores, or you could make your own:

For an Oatmeal and Honey Face Mask all you need is:

* 1/4 cup of any kind of oatmeal

* 1/4 cup of water

* 2 teaspoons of honey

Mix all the ingredients together, until it becomes a paste.

Or if you prefer a Cucumber face mask, all you need is to blend a cucumber until it is smooth. If you have dry skin, try adding a bit of lemon juice and honey. For oily skin, try adding some plain (preferably natural) yoghurt.

Cut some cucumber slices to put over your eyes, as this helps to reduce the puffiness and dark circles under your eyes.

While you are waiting for the face masks to do their magic, maybe have a glass or champagne (adding a strawberry to the bottom of the glass for that extra fancy-ness) and read some gossip magazines, while swapping gossip and stories with your friends.

Give yourself or each other a manicure and pedicure - trim and buff your nails then apply nail polish – try a different colour, one you wouldn't usually wear. How about some gentle Yoga or Pilates? Ideas are limited only by your imagination.

Whether you decide on a mini spa just for yourself or a full day of pampering with friends this can be a lot of fun, leaving you de-stressed and rejuvenated.
