Harlem Week

Home > Things to do in New York > Community Events
Event: 25/07/2010
Don't let its name fool you; Harlem Week takes place over the course of a full month, but with seven days of events and music celebrating the Manhattan neighborhood.

What initially started out as one day in 1974 has ballooned over the past 35 years, as this year, from July 25-August 25, more than 155 events are planned, including street fairs, fashion shows, concerts, conferences and even a fuel-efficient car show.

It all kicks off on July 25 with "A Great Day in Harlem," a day of gospel performances, fashion shows, concerts and more at Ulysses S. Grant National Memorial Park.

Other highlights of the festival include "Uptown Saturday Nite (August 14), featuring food, arts, live music and dance on W. 135th Street from Malcolm X Boulevard to St. Nicholas Avenue, and Harlem Week's signature event, "Harlem Day" on August 15 on W. 135th Street between Fifth and St. Nicholas avenues, with more music, dance and fashion, as well as an autoshow.

Don't want to miss a thing? Check out the full schedule of events here. With over 150 events planned, there's something for everyone.
