The
Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb is a fantastic experience no doubt, clambering all over the most famous arch in the world to take in some breathtaking views.
The downside is that it costs at least $180, and up to $295 if you decide you want to see the sun rise at the same time. Why dawn is more expensive that twilight I've no idea, why pay extra to get up early?
The cheap alternative which is almost as cool, and provides you with the same world famous view, is the
Harbour Bridge Pylon Lookout which chimes in at the bargain basement price of $9.50.
Other advantages include not having to book in advance, not having to wear a silly grey jumpsuit, and not having to share your oxygen with
droves of celebrities.
From the lookout website:
There are 200 stairs to the Pylon Lookout, 87 metres above mean sea level, but on the way up there are 3 levels of exhibits where you will discover the history and construction of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the men who built it, and the vision of JJC Bradfield, chief engineer.
So you get some interesting history lessons as well! Such great value my grandma would clapping her hands with glee, and surely the right option for all Harbour Bridge lovers in such
tough economic times.
Why? Save yourself $170 and spend it on new shoes for Tiny Tim instead.
