The Half Moon Young People's Theatre in east London sets out to "make a big impact on the lives of young people" by using the power of drama and theatre to help develop their personality and open their eyes to new opportunities and challenges.

The theatre, situated in Tower Hamlets, has been doing invaluable work in the community since the 1980s, and encourages all young people to get involved, particularly those from black and ethnic minority backgrounds, and those with disabilities.

Drama and theatre can be an inspirational tool for building confidence and self-esteem, as well as developing life skills through interaction with a wide variety of people.

It's also a great opportunity to develop creativity and let the imagination run riot!

The Half Moon Young People's Theatre enjoy what they do immensely but also take their work seriously, always endeavouring to put on entertaining shows of high quality.

Occasionally they tour plays nationally, often written by some of the UK's best up-and-coming playwrights.

There are a number of ways in which you can support Half Moon. You could, for example, attend an event or show. To see what's coming up, click here.

The Arts Council of England helps to fund the theatre, but individual donations are also much appreciated. If you're interested in making a donation to Half Moon, click here for more information.

For those eager to get directly involved, Half Moon runs events for youngsters aged between 5 and 17 years old. Toddlers' parents are welcome to join as well, of course.

Events can include many different aspects of theatre, such as puppetry, storytelling, movement, and music.

Specialist tutors ensure everyone gets the most out of the occasion, making it a productive and enjoyable experience for all involved.
