Gypsy Jazz on the Village Green

CERES Community Environment Park is such a nice place to hang on a Sunday.
The busier market day is on Saturdays and by Sunday it is all very laid back.
The cafe is open and what a treat it is is to sit there with a bit of sun on your shoulder.
There is inside seating for colder days but on a nice day you can sit outside under the umbrellas. No hard concrete here. Just a dirt floor and occasionally a little sparrow flits down to pick up the odd crumb or two.
All the food is organic and they do great coffee. Sometimes there is a bit of a queue to order but most people who go to CERES are generally relaxed and friendly so you soon find someone to chat to so you can pass the time. Once ordered food appears in rapid time.
Think wholemeal cakes here, free range eggs on sourdough and pumpkin break plastered with hummus.
The playground is so close that parents can watch their children while sipping their coffee.
When I say playground it is more of a fantasy land, a huge dragon like structure they can can weave in and out of. Great for their imaginations.
On the other side of the cafe is the Village Green. Every Sunday you can find a group playing
Gypsy Jazz . This is a style of music inspired by guitarist Jean
Django Reinhardt in the 1930s.
It's all very relaxing and impro. If you are interested in jamming along contact Misja on
[email protected]
And a village green means people can gather and enjoy. Occasionally someone will get up and do a bit of a jig usually with child in tow but most people just sit in the sunshine, relax and enjoy.
The musicians go on regardless of their audience or lack of one. They love jamming, they love the muso togetherness and that's what counts.
This is recommended for one of those Sundays when you seriously just want to unwind.
A seat awaits you.
