From the moment it opened its doors, The Grounds of Alexandria has been met with rave reviews that have had people flocking to its doors - both locals and not-so-locals, and with good reason. This innovative cafe has a focus on quality ingredients, fresh produce and specialty coffees that is pleasing to the palette, and a decor and gardens that are pleasing to the eyes.



It was a natural fit then for this pretender to the Alexandria crown to run produce markets in the grounds that are its namesake. They started in July and are now a regular feature on the last Saturday of every month. The first market saw 2000 people through the doors, and numbers have remained high for subsequent markets, so I'd advise you to arrive early if you want to avoid excessive queues (they kick off at 8am).



If you're search for the very best in fresh produce, from fruit and veg to authentic Italian cheeses and cured meats, flowers, as well as bacon rolls, macarons and other baked goodies, then this is the market for you. As well as products provided by the grounds, they have also teamed up with like-minded brands such as Salt Meats Cheese , Garlands Flowers and MakMak Macarons to provide some of the products described above. Add to this a great atmosphere, space for the kids and dogs to roam free, as well at the place to see and be seen in Sydney's west, and you can't go far wrong, so add this to your calendar for produce markets.



In the unlikely event that none of the produce takes your fancy, you can grab a takeaway coffee (expect to wait up to 15 mins at peak times) and a pastry, sit back and enjoy the scenery in their exquisitely tended gardens. Or you can try your hand at getting a table indoors and choose from the fantastic selection of breakfast or lunch options.
