Situated in the heart of Victoria this modest garden (divided into two and only two streets apart) may not be the biggest or well known, but if you don't want to get caught up in the usual big parks, slow down and take a break in
Grosvenor Gardens where it's filled with blooming flowers and a great atmosphere. The garden is more of a convenient place to relax in for a pit stop during or at the end of your day, for a quick bit to eat or a chat.
Close to various amenities, there are more than enough shops and cafes to visit before you can unwind in this central, yet un-crowded environment. Plus with summer just around the corner you could easily lie down and bath in the surroundings, and I'm sure after exploring Victoria, this would be a perfect spot to chill out.
You will find many historical buildings such as
St Peter's Church which is only a few minutes' walk away, as well as
Buckingham Palace (where you can see the changing of the guards) and
Westminster Cathedral.
You won't need to travel too far for entertainment, as the Apollo Victoria Theatre showing the production
Wicked and the Victoria Palace Theatre showing
Billy Elliot are only around a 4 minute walk from the Gardens.
Not only do you have a wide variety of
restaurants that provides a selection of cuisines to choose from, there are a lot of small unique cafes and shops if your not to keen on some of the bigger chains such as Costa. You will also be spoilt for choice if you fancy a bit of retail therapy. Take
Cardinal Place for example, it's a flashy shopping venue that houses Marks and Sparks, Zara, Topshop, L'Occitane and Hobbs to name just a few, along with a roof garden and an art gallery.
The nearest station to Grosvenor Gardens is
Victoria which is less than a few minutes' walk to the East. So forget wondering around trying to find somewhere nice to have a sit down without feeling obligated to buy something.
The only problem you may face with this garden is, "no dogs allowed," so sorry to all the dog lovers out there.
