Norwood seems to be growing as a home to many new and upcoming food joints in and around the Parade.

One of the latest additions to the Norwood family is the beautifully spaced and centrally-located burger bar - Grill'd.

Grill'd has its locations set up all over the country, so being the first of its kind in South Australia, I thought I'd try it out myself and see if it truly lives up to its food philosophy: 'Burgers made good'.

Personally, I'm a bit of a burger snob. What I mean is that when I have a burger, I expect it to be fresh with tender meats, delicious veggies and not soggy/sloppy in any kind. This has been an issue for me every time I go out to a burger restaurant - there's just a bit too much liquid that pours out of burgers, or the meat is too tough to chew.

And I'm so glad to report that Grill'd delivered - and wow, did they deliver fantastically.

I was a bit skeptical about their prices - I mean, $10 for a burger? I know that seems to be the norm nowadays, but it's just a burger. Why cost so much when we can easily get some patties from the local Coles/Woolworths and make it at home for about 1/2 that price?

I'll tell you why - because guys like the ones who work at Grill'd really do know how to make burgers that leave your hunger cravings satisfied and delighted, with their blend of excellent and complementary ingredients. Also, customer service at Grill'd was exceptional, and the staff is always around to help you figure out the right option to best meet your burger needs.

My friend and I visited Grill'd a week after its grand opening and were equally pleased and taken aback by the sea of people who had flocked down to the newly-established burger joint for (what I can now safely say was) an enjoyable experience.

After waiting in line for about 10 minutes, we placed in our orders and quickly got the feeling that the staff was genuinely interested in meeting our culinary needs, by providing us with useful recommendations and guiding us through the sizing/texture of the fries and burgers. While it was a busy night, there was a general ambience of happiness and good vibes among the hustle and bustle around the joint.

We then waited patiently for our orders to arrive (which took about 20 or so minutes - a reasonable time given the heavy pour-in of customers throughout the evening) and received our meals with a clean and beautiful presentation.

I ordered a Caeser's Palace (Grilled chicken breast, crispy trim bacon, free range egg, shaved parmesan, baby cos & Caesar dressing) and was extremely delighted with this choice.

The burger meat was perfectly tender with a tint of pepper flavour. If I could give you one tip about this burger (or the one mentioned below), it would be to cut the burger in half prior to devouring this tasteful dish, because it will otherwise be an extremely messy meal; with the tomato/veggies falling out from all sides. I would definitely recommend this option if you prefer chicken over beef/lamb (their other options).

My friend ordered a Simon Says (Grilled chicken breast, avocado, crispy trim bacon, salad, relish & herbed mayo.) along with potato chips (regular-sized) on the side (which was enough to feed the both of us).

She reported to really like this burger and found that the uncommon combination of avocado with grilled chicken in a burger surprisingly worked well.

After a very fun-filled and exciting night, I am confident in saying that Grill'd is truly a new, trendy and upbeat burger joint to open its doors to the people of Norwood and Adelaide with a welcoming attitude. The decor is classic and modern, the staff is helpful and friendly, the food lives up to its standards and you can be guaranteed with an amazing and fresh experience.

Make sure you check this place out, because I think it's going to give Nordburger some serious competition in the months to follow.
