The Greenwich Picturehouse is a cinema for people who really love film, not just people who like going to the movies on occasion and are happy with the quality of the fare at the local multiplex. And that goes for the film fare, the atmosphere fare and the food fare – all of which the Picturehouse takes a lot more care over than your average movie theatre.
The theatres, and there are four, and one very cool screening room, have comfier chairs than your average cinema, and the carpet is never sticky. The bar, which is upstairs, serves proper coffees and a decent selection of wines and bar snacks, as well as popcorn and pick 'n mix, is a pretty decent bar, and somewhere you'd consider going even if you weren't seeing a film – and they let you take your drinks in, which is very civilised and much appreciated. The film choices err more towards the art house, but don't miss out the best of the blockbusters, and they have plenty of events for proper lovers of film to attend – like film quiz nights, and short film seasons. They obviously all care about film. Which is probably what makes the biggest difference here.
