For lovers of vintage cars, the GREAT Macedon Grand Tour is en route for the Macedon Ranges again on Saturday 18 April, transporting spectators and drivers back to the days before 1988 and this year highlighting models with the classic MG marque.

Enthusiasts are invited to view the 100 classic cars joining this year's field from 8am by the Gisborne Olde Time Market site along the Aitken Street service road (eastern side), where flag off will take place at 9am. The vintage vehicles can also be viewed during the morning tea pit stop, around 10.30am to 11.30am at the Riddells Creek Farmers Market .

Whether you're a local or city-based, make sure you head to the picturesque Macedon Ranges to see this once a year spectacle in action and wave on the tourists. Riddells Creek Farmers Market, held at the local primary school from 9am to 1pm, is also one of the finest. You can pick up fresh produce from Daylesford and the Macedon Ranges while you're visiting, and take it practically from the paddock to your plate.

The 2015 tour will traverse 250km of scenic autumn countryside over Mt Macedon, onto Woodend, through Macedon township and then to Riddells Creek (for the farmers market stop); followed by Darraweit Guim, Romsey, Lancefield and Pyalong, eventually finishing up at Carlsruhe around 4.30pm. This means you'll be certain to spot the vintage vehicles all around the region on the day, even if you can't make it for the flag off or farmers market stop.

The annual Sunday Picnic in the Park will once again farewell the tourists on Sunday 19 April at John Aitken Reserve in Gisborne. The President's Choice Trophy will be presented to one participant at this event, and the public is also welcome to attend and enjoy the classic cars on show from 10am to 1pm.

The first Macedon Grand Tour was held in 2003, with owners of vehicles 25 years or older and the inspiration of showcasing the region to all who enjoy classic cars and a drive through picturesque countryside. Unlike many other car rallies and events of its kind, organisers pride themselves on the all-inclusive family-friendly nature of the GREAT Macedon Grand Tour.
