If you have driven down Coronation Drive along the Brisbane River recently, you have probably wondered why on earth a giant yellow rubber duck is moored out in the river. Well wonder no longer, because that yellow duck is letting everyone in Brisbane know that the annual
is happening again soon.
On the 30th of October, 20,000 or so miniature versions of the rubber duck will be floating down the river, bumping each other to the finish line of the 100 metre race.
The race is held each year to raise money for cancer research. You can help by buying a duck and then going along to watch it race down the river at Riverside Drive, West End. Buying one duck will donate $5 to the PA Research Foundation for cancer research or you can buy a family, a flock or even a fleet of 100 ducks. The winning duck wins it's owner a brand new car from
Motorama .
As well as the main event, other races will feature larger and motorised ducks which have been decorated and modified by various business and team fund-raisers around Brisbane. There will also be plenty of entertainment, including food, music and a sideshow alley.
The festivities kick off at 10am with the main race at 1.30pm. Check out the
website or
Facebook page for more details or to buy a duck.
