Back in the 17th century, Newton formulated the law of universal gravitation. The law states that a point mass attracts every other point mass by a force directly proportional to the product of the two masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between the two masses.
Today in the 21st century, Macclesfield celebrates this gravitational force.
Gravfest is Macclesfield's gravity festival where billy carts, go-karts and g-bikes race downhill at high speeds in front of an engaged crowd. No engines allowed. Only brakes and steering needed. And, of course, gravity is the key.
The gravity-powered race will be held on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th of April 2017 in a small town called Macclesfield approximately 50 kilometres southeast of Adelaide.
The course will be along Vernon Street. It has a sealed bitumen surface which provides minimal resistance. It is more than 600 metres long and drops 50 metres in altitude.
Gravfest is free for spectators. So come see this high-speed downhill race with the family.
