These tours are running on selected dates until 30 November 2017 and are subject to availability with Government House and must be booked at least two weeks in advance.
Discover Melbourne's rich heritage with a walk around the grand rooms of Government House including the state apartments, the grand ballroom, state dining room and the billiard room. The tours have been expanded to include the significant outbuildings such as the 19th-century kitchen and the Hopetoun stables. You'll also visit the simple yet elegant La Trobe's Cottage, the original home of Victoria's first Lt. Governor, Charles Joseph La Trobe.

Government House
You can explore the grounds of Government House during a monthly garden tour. However, this tour doesn't include access to the interior. Tours run on the third Thursday of every month at 11am and are free.
Government House gardens feature magnificent lawns, sparingly planted with specimen trees and surrounded by large beds of trees and shrubs, as well as a formal garden for the private use of the Governor and guests.

Government House is located between the King's Domain and the Royal Botanic Gardens.
La Trobe's Cottage
This cottage is Melbourne's oldest surviving building and the restored cottage replicates the original structure and contains items belonging to La Trobe and other artefacts from the earliest time of Victoria's settlement.
