Gore Creek Reserve

Gore Creek Reserve is a surprisingly vibrant natural habitat in the suburban landscape of Greenwich.

As its name would suggest, the centre-piece of Gore Creek Reserve is the spring of water that flows through the protected grounds. The creek was once a transport route for barges, and continues to provide a beautiful backdrop for bushwalkers. The sign-posted track has its own history, having been worn down by the steady march of the bullocks that hauled building materials to the barges.

Today, Gore Creek Reserve is more suited to days of casual relaxation then hard labour. On busy summer weekends, it may be necessary to make bookings through Lane Cove Council in order to make use of the BBQ facilities, the cricket wicket, or the sporting oval.

The Gore Creek Reserve can be accessed from St Vincents Road, towards Greenwich Hospital. It is also possible to access the reserve from Gore Street. For those unfamiliar with the geography of the Lower North Shore, Greenwich is a mere 10 minutes from Sydney's Central Business District, although the journey becomes more convoluted where people choose to take public transport. Nonetheless, there are various bus routes that will take you along the Pacific Highway.
