Wow! The Gold Coast SUNS are back doing it again….

Join the Gold Coast SUNS for their second annual sleepout at Metricon Stadium to help raise awareness and much needed funds for youth homelessness on the Gold Coast.

From 2pm for a few hours or if you're game and I'm sure you are, come and sleep out for the whole night!

It will be loads of fun with plenty of entertainment on the night including live screening of the GC SUNS playing Carlton in Melbourne, raffles, live music and movie on the big plaza screen. The kids will absolutely love it. Children under the age of 15 must be accompanied by an adult.

Some cardboard sheets will be available to sleep on from the Metricon Stadium staff, but it is recommended and a great idea that you bring your own matting (yoga mats are great), sleeping bag (blankets) and pillow. Make sure you have plenty of warm clothes and a beanie will not go amiss!

Rain, hail or shine, this event will go ahead. You will be sleeping on the concourse which is undercover and has a concrete surface, ensuring you stay dry duriing the night.

It is FREE to attend the event, however it is encouraged to give a gold coin donation on entry - all proceeds will be donated to the Gold Coast SUNS 3 nominated charities.

You are welcome to bring your own food and drink (non-alcoholic) which will be allowed into the stadium for this event only. Some outlets will also be open to purchase food & drinks throughout the match with a soup kitchen proudly supported by Amore di Cucina requesting a gold coin donation will be available following the completion of the match.

Did you know that every night in Australia approx. 44,500 young people are homeless. Homelessness isn't just when you're "sleeping on the streets", you can be considered homeless or at risk of being homeless if you're sleeping in a car, in a refuge, staying at a mate's place, staying in a hotel, motel or hostel or living in a tent. It is heartbreaking but sometimes they have no option.

Many youths do not realise that there are others their age that do not have a place to call home, and do not have family support. The sleepout will help bring awareness of Youth Homelessness on the Gold Coast and raise much needed funds for three not-for-profit Youth Homeless related charities. The three charities supported through the Sleepout are Gold Coast Youth Service, Gold Coast Project for Homeless Youth Inc. and YHES House.

The Gold Coast SUNS and Metricon Stadium are fantastic at supporting these charities all year round and are proud to host this event on Saturday August 9. They have combined with Rotary District 9640 and the City of Gold Coast to form the HORIZONS Program. The HORIZONS Program is in its 4th year and continues to support some of the most needy families on the Gold Coast.

Amore Di Cucina will be doing a wonderful job of supporting the Soup Kitchen in 2014 by donating their time and produce. Rotary District 9640 will assist in serving the products to all participants.
