[ADVERT]January's Movies Under the Stars offerings have been enjoyed many Gold Coast families. What's not to enjoy - a great range of quality movies, a mix of films for younger and older age groups, park locations around the Gold Coast giving lovely outdoor venues for you to chill with your family or meet up with friends and the cherry on top, is that it's free.

So what do we have to look forward to in February 2013?

We Bought A Zoo on Sat 2 Feb
starts off the month of movies, showing at Norm Rix Park, Cnr Government Rd & Whiting St, Labrador. Starring Matt Damon & Scarlett Johansson, this family film is based on the memoir of a British writer who attempts to come to terms with life as a widower and single father, by moving to the countryside to renovate and reopen a struggling zoo. 7 year old Rosie (played by Maggie Elisabeth Jones) is just the cutest supporter of the zoo adventure.

Marley & Me is also showing on Sat 2 Feb
The venue is Ernie Tebb Park, Mountain View Avenue, Miami. If you cry easily at sad parts in movies, you'd better take some tissues along to this one. It follows the life of Marley, a gorgeous yellow Labrador retriever, simultaneously sharing the story of Marley's owners, played by Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston, their careers and their growing family. This movie will make you laugh and make you cry.

Next up is:

The Pirates: Band of Misfits on Sat 9 Feb
which is on the big screen at Paradise Point Parklands, The Esplanade. From the producers of Chicken Run, Hugh Grant stars in his first animated role as the Pirate Captain, along with his motley crew.

The alternative offering on the same night is Hugo on Sat 9 Feb this time at Laguna Park, Laguna Ave, Palm Beach.
Hugo is described as a historical adventure drama and is based on the novel The Invention of Hugo Cabret. It's about a boy who lives alone in the Gare Montparnasse railway station in Paris.

This station is famous for an incredible shot of a train, which overran the buffer stop and smashed out of the station in 1895. Join the adventure with Hugo at Palm Beach.

Monsters Inc is on Sat 16 Feb
At Broadwater Parklands, Marine Parade, Southport.
This is one of Disney-Pixars most loved animated movies – it's an Academy Award winning comedy. Follow Sulley, on his journey from Best Scarer to Best Entertainer. My kids think it's a very creative story.

The final offering for February is:
The Adventuress of Tintin on Sat 23 Feb
At Hessian Park, Discovery Drive, Helensvale.
Based on the books by Belgian comic book writer and artist Herge (his pen name, actual name: Georges Prosper Remi) which were translated into more than 50 languages.

We Bought A Zoo and The Pirates: Band of Misfits are both rated G. The other February movies are all PG. The Movies Under the Stars are free and make a fun family night out. Take a rug/chair/beanbag, whatever you find most comfortable and portable, and make your way to a movie of your choice. It's a new school year so why not ask a few kids in your child's new class to join you, with their families.
