Glee is certainly much more than an American television series. The musical/comedy/drama has spawned several top ten CDs featuring cover versions of classic and contemporary tracks, a live touring production entitled Glee Live! In Concert! and the inevitable concert film Glee Live! In 3D!, the UK talent show Don't Stop Believing and the American reality television series The Glee Project. The Gleeks sure do love Glee, so it should come as no surprise that Gleek-On, a Glee convention to be held in Sydney (16th July 2011) and Melbourne (17th July 2011) this July, is an anticipated event for Australia's Glee fans.
Gleek-On will be held at The Science Theatre at The University of New South Wales on July 16th, 2011 and at The Copland Theatre at the University of Melbourne on July 17th, 2011. For further details on either of these venues, please see here.
Gleek-On will be held from 9:00am to 6:00pm on both Saturday 16th of July (Sydney) and Sunday 17th of July (Melbourne). During the event, fans will be able to participate in raffles and auctions, as well as purchase collectible merchandise. The special guests will also be participating in meet and greets and you will have the opportunity to obtain an autograph with a cast member/s and have a professional photograph taken with the special guest/s. If you plan on meeting one of the special guests, please read the etiquette guide provided by Hub Productions.
Tickets are now on sale for this event. A Day Ticket is priced at $95, however this is just an entry fee, as on the day if you want to participate in an autograph or photo session, will be expected to pay an additional fee; an autograph is priced from $30 and a photograph is priced from $40.
There is also a VIP Day Ticket priced at $500, which will allow the ticket holder to attend a special Karaoke evening function with the special guests and there is also the Platinum Day Ticket priced at $850, which will allow the ticket holder to attend the special Karaoke evening function and also a breakfast with the special guests. Both the VIP Day Ticket and Platinum Day Ticket come with a whole range of perks, including front row seating at the presentations and priority queuing for autographs and photographs. For more information on the different ticket types and to purchase tickets, please see here.

However I have to say paying $500 specially when more popular cast members such as Rachel or Finn or even Mr Shue are not going to be around seems way above 'typical student budget'. Then again you didnt really say this program was for students mainly. Oh well its just my bad luck I suppose

Apparently there are two yet to be announced special guests - but I agree, it is a fairly expensive convention. Just general admission and an autograph would set you back $125.

Maybe if I lurk around Science theatre I can see them come in? Haha! I am really into Glee. Wish I had the money to go in. Its good that you wrote this though because on campus people dont even know this is about to happen in 2 weeks time.

I would have loved to go to this, but unfortunately I wont be in Melbourne or Sydney on the weekend. I love Harry Shum Jr, would have loved to have gotten the chance to meet him. But, yes, I don't think I'm anywhere near enough of a Glee fan to even contemplate the $500 or $850 tickets. Even the $95 ticket would be stretching it for me.
The price is crazy!! Without the fans they wouldn't be anything and now if I want to see them it's going to cost me anywhere between $95 to $850. We wanted to take our son and daughter as we all love Glee but it would cost us more than my weekly wage. Great way to thank the fans...
