Get ready for a good dose of the creeps. If you're a fan of hair-raising horror, you need to take this two-hour walking tour of Melbourne in all of its ghostly glory. The Haunted Melbourne Ghost Tour is designed to give you a chilly chill up your spine – and is a whole lot of fun.

It's not like a two-hour long ghost train ride or anything. That'd be a bit much to take. It's an informative trek through Melbourne's haunted past with Drew Sinton, historian and TV presenter of Haunted Australia, Channel 31's top-rating ghost-hunting show (starring real ghost-hunters), which screened a couple of years' back and had an avid following.

Anyone who devotes his life to all things haunted has got to be an interesting character. You might like to make sure you have the lights on before getting to know him and a couple of ghostly stories here.

So, where exactly does this cape-clad ghost-seeker lure you? You'll have to take the tour to find out. Let's just say that you're in the very… er… safe hands of someone who knows of 50 ghosts in the CBD and more than 100 "personalities without bodies" in suburbia.

The tour takes off on Saturday evenings from The Haunted Bookshop in the city, a dark, fascinating place with dedicated occult library whose shelves are lined with tales of ghosts, death, witchcraft, angels and the supernatural. Look out for the creaking floorboards…

It's a very reasonably-priced, spine-tingling two hours' entertainment (with a 10% discount for groups of 10 or more.)

You might also like to try some of Drew's other more destination-specific ghost tours, like the Haunted State Library Ghost Tour or Haunted Queen Victoria Market Ghost Tour.

By the way, did you know our much-loved Queen Vic is the site of Melbourne's first cemetery? Well, there you have it. Bet you didn't know what you were walking over when you strolled the aisles, picked up your veggies, or tried on that great new outfit!

Do you want to know? Well, I'm going to tell you anyway. Approximately 9,000 bodies – and rumour has it that all souls are not resting in peace.

Check it, and his other tours, out here.

Leave the kids at home, bring a brolly if it's raining, and pray it's not a full moon.
