Ipswich has a dark past. No, I'm not just talking about the blackouts when the floods hit. I'm talking about the creepy, kooky, mysterious, spooky, and alltogether ooky ghosts of Ipswich's past. They're here to haunt lovers of fine spooky storytelling in Ipswich Library this February.

Spectators will be thrilled by chilling tales told by historian and author Jack Sim. Known as Brisbane's own 'man in black', Jack has been exciting audiences for many years with his brilliant Ghost Walking Tours. Plus he's published a plethora of haunted historical texts including %%The Ghosts of Toowong Cemetery: Brisbane's Necropolis, The Ghosts of Boggo Road Gaol: Ghosts and Gallows, and Haunted Brisbane: Ghosts of the River City.

These free storytelling events will be at Ipswich Library on Thursday the 9th and Friday 17th of February 2017 from 5.30 to 7.00pm. Jack will tell you spine-tingling tales as he reveals what he refers to as 'the morbid museum of Ipswich's past'. Many of the stories are from Jack's tome, Haunted Ipswich: Ghosts of the Heritage City. He's currently in the process of researching a second volume of Haunted Ipswich, so it's also a great chance to regale him with your own local ghost sightings.

Jack's passion for history and the supernatural stretches back many years before he began making a business out of the past. It wasn't until 1998 that he fashioned a future career from his passions, as he began his ghost tours and writing true local crime stories. Since then his events have grown in popularity and his books have enjoyed decent sales. Ipswich's QT reported recently that Haunted Ipswich: Ghosts of the Heritage City has sold 1,000 copies since 2010 and is about to be reprinted.

I'll definitely be heading along one night for some great ghost stories. Why not come along too? See Jack for free and experience the thrilling atmosphere this experienced storyteller weaves into his reading. Book online or phone (07) 3810 6815.
