Sweet plant-based, vegan gelato to satisfy the cravings
If you're craving a sweet treat, Gelato Blue in Sydney's Newtown has your sweet tooth satisfied. Gelato Blue is anchored on bustling King Street; a gelato bar that's recently transformed itself into an all-plant-based gelato affair. The family-run and owned gelato bar has been operating for over eight years, though recently, and gradually, replaced their homemade dairy ingredients in their gelato recipes with plant-based alternatives. By March this year, Gelato Blue became Sydney's first all-plant-based gelataria.

Gelato Blue is Sydney's first all plant-based gelataria

Old traditions were reinvigorated to create new artisan flavours alongside all-time favourites without the need for animal-derived ingredients. Flavours are still declared as "super creamy" and "super rich". All 25 current flavours are plant-based (their recipe book is bursting with over 100, apparently!) and are proving as popular as ever, especially with vegan customers travelling there from around town and interstate or overseas. One of Gelato Blue's aims is to decrease their carbon footprint and this has been achieved through seeking out their new plant-based journey and locally sourced ingredients.

Choose from a vast spread of delectable gelato flavours

Almost every gelato flavour has been concocted through passion, love and laughter, such as Carrot Cake, Vanilla Panna Cotta, Espresso Swirl and Caramelised Fig and Cinnamon, and are bursting with smooth and rich gelato goodness. Every vegan flavour here at Gelato Blue is home-made from scratch and free taste tests are readily available, just in case you can't make up your mind. Vegan waffle cones can be loaded up with any flavour you desire, and priced depending on how many scoops you choose.

Why stop at one scoop of gelato?

Or, for the ultimate in gelato sundaes, choose scoops of favourite flavours, all scooped up into a recyclable takeaway vessel, then crowned by a waffle cone, crushed peanuts and drizzled in melted Belgian chocolate. The fun is in the breaking up of said cone and dipping the shards into the gooey gelato chocolate soaked gelato. Make your stay at Gelato Blue longer by grabbing a stool in-store and sharing your sundae with your bestie. Gelato Blue's family-like love for their customers can be tasted in each spoonful.

If your sweet tooth and appetite permits, sneak in a vegan cupcake from the espresso bar, or a vegan vanilla slice. If you need a coffee to partner your baked treats, then you can order a Flying Pig organic coffee that's specifically roasted for plant-based milk options; another positive that Gelato Blue are proud to claim as their own. Being open-minded, Gelato Blue is surely changing minds and hearts; all in the name of delicious gelato and warm hospitality.

Your Comment
The true gelato in Italy is not made from milk. So this sounds more like the original recipe. Delicio!
