Dine, Shop or Play at Gasworks’ Gasometer

It's the newest hub in the inner city precinct of Brisbane and it's worth visiting. You will find this place in the suburb of Newstead, which is almost fast becoming the 'instead of New Farm', if that makes sense.

Any night of the week is an enjoyable experience in this new hub, which has been built around the old gasometer structure which provides a special ambience to this wine, dine and shopping corridor. This wonderful structure lights up at night changing colours every few minutes.

For a more specific description of this place, I would say "it's like an outdoor hallway with rooms off to the side where these spaces play the host to wonderful restaurants, cafes and bars.
The checklist below lists the places to eat, drink, play or shop, split for day and night experiences.

1: Campos Coffee or CBD cafe for casual day time visits.
2: Max Brenner - for chocolate lovers.
4: Wine Emporium - displays galore for wine lovers.
5: Breads by the Standard Market Co.
6: Deli by the Standard Market Co for good quality fresh 'deli style foods'.
7: Fruits by the Standard Market Co.
8: Kebab O Clock - for easy simple kebab wraps.
9:: Quench and Gurts - ice cream, frozen yoghurt and dessert bars.
10: La Rotisserie - great range of simple meats and gourmet salads (great food, however not in the prime gasometer viewing spot). You can take food away from here.
11: Salsa Fresh Mex Grill - Simple, cheap, tasty and as spicy as you like (great if your on a budget). Dine in or get takeaway and find a spot to sit in the heart of the gasometer.

Particularly for night time diners, for best views of the gasometer 'watch' when it changes its colours - these are the places to sit eat and enjoy the show;

12: Buzz Gasworks - wine bar, great pizzas, breads and prime seats for the light show viewing. Try the plump tasty garlic bread with parmeson cheese with a glass of wine - delish.
13: Hatch and Co - popular dining place, serving meals and tapas (very busy with bookings are usually required here).
14: Reef Seafood and Sushi - as it says "Fish and Sushi", also licensed and additionally serves burgers. tempura vegetables

Full directory of tenants can be found here.

For the night time dining, anytime of the week is good, however on a Friday or a Saturday night, there is a 10 minute sound and light show scheduled at 7pm and 9pm sharp, during which this place comes alive.

Sunday afternoons are another time to watch out for as often there is free entertainment inside the gasometer, for all to enjoy. Entertainment can rotate with music, acrobatics or artistic performances. Keep up to date with what is on via the website. Another read and more photos are on my general Gasworks Plaza article here.
