Not having much time for a big break, my friends and I headed South to Garie Beach. It is about a 1 hour drive out of Sydney, through some beautiful rainforests overhanging the winding roads of The National Park. It is well worth the trip.

It wasn't the sunniest day for the beach, although the beauty of this place shone through, especially as the typical picnicking tourists have opted for an indoor adventure that day.

The beach is about 1km long and is quite popular with the surfers and fishermen who seemed to out number the surfers on this particular day. There were also great walking tracks and plenty of areas to just sit back and relax on the beach.

With its tiny little old beach huts just sitting there on the cliff, it is quite amazing really to think you are so close to Sydney. There was a BBQ onsite, however due to fire restrictions we were unable to use it

Further south along the new Grand Pacific Drive, which I would say has to be one of the best strips of asphalt in the world, we landed ourselves at the recently renovated and popular Scarborough Hotel . The views from here are simply stunning and the food was to die for, although a little overpriced for say, a pub bistro. However this place was most definitely the best way to finish up our day trip out of Sydney.
