Take a bite out of history at
Government House and gardens on Sunday 27th September, with the popular annual Garden Music event.
Enjoy wonderful food and wine in the gardens, with a fantastic mix of live music from blues and roots to hip hop with
The Audreys,
Dan Sultan, Bridezilla and Unkle Ho.
If croquet is your thing, coach Max Donati will be there to give you some tips or perhaps you’d enjoy a game of badminton. After all the exertion, what better way to relax than with a picnic under the Moreton Bay Fig trees, glass of wine in hand or maybe a nice cup of tea and a delicious sweet or savoury bite.
Why not take a wander through the Government House, bursting with the stories of the Governors who resided there since the first Governor, Captain Arthur Phillip’s arrival on the First Fleet in 1788. Incidentally, his first home was a portable canvas house which he brought with him from England, a far cry from the magnificent architecture of Government House today.
There is also an art exhibition of the work of six students from
Studio ARTES, which trains adults with disabilities, and there will be easels scattered around the gardens for you if you feel like tapping into your own creativity.
The venue is licensed. No glass or BYO allowed and bags are likely to be searched for safety of patrons. Picnics allowed.
Tickets available at the gate and entry is via the gates opposite the
Conservatorium of Music. For transport information
