Marrickville Council offers a vast range of free & low cost activities in the area, to suit all needs and interests. If you've just retired and are looking at igniting an old hobby or meeting some new friends, look no further.



Cyber Seniors offers one-on-one tuition in a free 6 week course. Running from Wed 20th Feb until 27th of March at 3.30, it will get you up to speed with computers and the digital age. Register on 9335 2143.

Zumba Gold for Seniors - A fun exercise dance class held every 2nd Monday at 1.15 at the Herb Greedy Hall, 79 Petersham Rd, Marrickville. Register on 9335 2191

If dance is not your style, there's a Gentle Exercise Class held in various locations for $5.50 - $6 a class.

There is even new Seniors exercise equipment in place a Camperdown Oval on Australia Street, for those that want to be outdoors and exercise at their own pace.


Marrickville Town Hall has a Movie Club, screening movies for free at 10.15am on the first Tuesday of the month and the details for the University of the Third Age Movie Appreciation Course is here .

Held Thursdays in Newtown at 12.45, transport provided, as is lunch for a small fee. Enjoy lunch and a chat with an uplifting sing-a-long. Bookings on 9335 2183

Just after the lunch? Marrickville Feasting meets the 4th Tuesday of the month and dines in local restaurants for no more than $20. To join the friendly gourmands call 9557 1098.

There are regular health talks covering a broad range of subjects and help with updating wills, writing classes and social craft groups . They have cryptic crossword workshops and book clubs in many languages.
